Susana Encinas Perea
Susana Encinas Perea received her PhD in Chemistry from the Universitat Politècnica of València (Spain) in 1998. After postdoctoral experience at the Gorlaeus Laboratories of the University of Leiden in Holland and at the High Energy Photochemistry and Radiations Institute of the Italian Research Council in Bologna (1998-2000), she became Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry of the School of Industrial Engineering at Universitat Politècnica of València in 2008. She was a visiting researcher at Professor N. J. Turro’s laboratory at the Columbia University of New York (USA) in 2009 and at the CNR Crystallography Institute in Rome (Italy) in 2012. Her main scientific interests are in the area of photochemistry and photophysics, as part of the research group "Excited states: detection, dynamics, transformations and applications." Specifically, her field of work focuses on the study of the photochemical mechanisms of biomolecules damage, including photosensitization and photoprotection.
