1 Encyclopædia of Luminescence

Encyclopædia of Luminescence with its motto:
Recording and Contextualizing the Science of Luminescence
is a peer-reviewed, in-depth Internet accessible, open access encyclopædia directed to individuals at all levels in academic and industrial ranks including students, doctoral students, postdocs, and professors. All entries in Encyclopædia of Luminescence are written by invitation by professional authorities and these entries have been scholarly peer-reviewed by at least two peers. All entries are continuously updated with new advances in a given topic.

In summary Encyclopædia of Luminescence have the following subsections:

  1. Encyclopædia of Luminescence - in-depth, peer-reviewed and open access Internet Encyclopædia,
  2. The Light Years - biographical notes about noticeable researchers in Luminescence,
  3. Books Reviews, Editorials and Point of Views - monitoring of new developments,
  4. Conferences, Meetings, and Schools - international exchange and learning,
  5. Opportunities, Jobs, Fellowships - advertising board supporting young fellow researchers,
  6. Instruments and Technical Progress - commercial companies presentations and instrumental advances.
  7. Who's Who - concise biographical and scientific information about researchers in Luminescence.

2 Writing Style

Contributors to Encyclopædia of Luminescence should follow a commonly accepted in scientific publications writing style. Although no particular length limit on each entry is imposed, the entries should be concise, but self-contained. The Encyclopedia of Luminescence is using English as a present-day language of science. The authors, especially from non-English spiking countries, should ensure proper English usage of spelling and grammar.

3 Layout

  1. Entry Title
  2. Author(s) Names and Affiliation(s) - author(s) names will be linked to authors biographical entries with a description of research and interests. Author(s) photos are welcome.
  3. Start with a dictionary-like definition of the main topic (1 sentence to 1 paragraph long). This definition should be conceptually accessible to a broad audience of readers.
  4. Table of Contents - list content of your entry.
  5. Content - Progress from more basic to more advanced concepts. This is a main body of the entry.
  6. References - follow Chicago Style. http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html
  7. Further reading - follow Chicago Style.
  8. External links - external links to entry related issues.

4 Formatting Issues

No particular length of your entry (article) is imposed. A plain MS Word document will be satisfactory:

  1. Your document submission (your name.docx)
  2. Clearly marked figures (artwork, we accept color artwork) your name.* (all reasonable formats are OK).
  3. For references could you follow Chicago Style (http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html) and MS Word referencing mode.
  4. For equations use MS Word Math editor and add LaTeX (https://www.latex-project.org/) code for these equations. The final entry will be typeset by us and we are working with LaTeX. editor. For example equation in Ms Word Math is [math]\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm d x}I(x)=-\alpha cI(x)\tag {1}[/math] and its LaTeX code is <math\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm d x}I(x)=-\alpha cI(x)\tag {1}/math>.[math]\langle n | \psi_1(t) \rangle\frac{1}{i \hbar}=\int_0^t d \tau g e^{-i E_b \tau /\hbar } e^{-i n \Delta (t- \tau)/\hbar }=g \frac{ 1 - e^{i (n \Delta - E_b )t/\hbar } }{n \Delta - E_b } e^{-i n \Delta t /\hbar }\tag {9}[/math] We use MathJax (https://www.mathjax.org/) as a cross-browser JavaScript library that displays mathematical notation in web browsers, using MathML (https://www.w3.org/Math/), LaTeX and ASCIIMathML (http://asciimath.org/) markup.
  5. The author(s) are asked to indicate in their manuscript the words which in their opinion should be represented as entries in Encyclopedia of Luminescence. This distinction should be done by underlining word and using blue font color, say a word. The authors should be careful as for example words photoelectron transfer are a separate entry in Encyclopedia of Luminescence, but word electron obviously does not belong to this category. During the entry typesetting, featured words will be linked to respective entries in Encyclopedia of Luminescence.

6 Article Information

The aim of Encyclopædia of Luminescence is to collect and represent all knowledge related to Luminescence in its broadest sense. In it, we have two borderline entries and all remaining one in between. The borderline entries are:

  1. Fundamental Entries - entries accounting for basic physical and chemical definitions and concepts,
  2. Advanced Entries - state of art accounts of all topics related to Luminescence.

Fundamental Entries will require a little editorial attention after its approval. However, the Advanced Entries will have "life" character and the author(s) at their discretion will be required to update time to time these entries. The latest edition of entry will appear in Encyclopædia of Luminescence. The history of all updates will be available online in the entry history file. Chicago Reference Style requires specification of the date when the file was accessed and thus clear identification of updated versions of each entry will be available.

7 Article Maintance

The LumiPedia.org needs your support. A great number of scientists are donating their time and effort to contribute, peer-review, and maintain this encyclopedia. Our goal is to:

Record and Contextualize the Science by Scientists for Scientists

in the form of peer-reviewed and open-access scientific encyclopædia. Our contributors, editors, typesetters, proofreaders, volunteers, and supporting personnel are jointly creating entries covering topics for all-natural sciences. To cover the annual costs of administering and supporting this effort, the LumiPedia.org is kindly asking all contributors, associated institutions, libraries, and businesses to endorse and support our efforts.

A minimum sustainable financial fee per one LumiPedia.org article is fairly estimated to be about €2265 (pending the actual exchange rate of $2700, ¥300K) or equivalent + VAT (The EU Europe flag.gif Value Added Tax) if applicable.

The above sustainable manuscript editing fee applies to all contributions. However, in the case of contributions to heavy and extensive math, one has to remember that in order to make this contribution appear in a professional way, one has to edit all math in MathJax ([1]). Therefore in these cases, an individual evaluation will be made to assess the MathJax editorial work needed to transfer the manuscript into professional form. If your manuscript in MS Word exceeds 8 pages (1.5 spacing, PDF/Word conversion at www.ilovepdf.com) an additional fee of €87.24 (net) per page will be charged.

In the case of Light Years and Who's Who entries the minimum sustainable financial fee per one LumiPedia.org entry is fairly estimated to be about ⅓ of the above amount charged for the main entries. [⅓×€2265=€755 (pending the actual exchange rate $900, ¥67K) or equivalent + VAT (The EU Europe flag.gif Value Added Tax) if applicable.] The late payment over 31 days after publication of an article date, all minimum sustainable financial support will result in the late payment surcharge at 43% of all minimum (net) sustainable charges. However, the late payment over 61 days after publication of an article date, all minimum sustainable financial support will result in the late payment surcharge at 100% of all minimum (net) sustainable charges.

By submitting a manuscript and if the manuscript is accepted for publication (The final publication date is given (included) by the publisher for each article headings.) after a peer-review process the leading author agrees to furnish (pay) right away of publication date a number of monies described above, without further notification from the publisher. The publisher upon receiving the required payment will within 3 working days forward a related invoice to the leading author. The parties of this contract also agree that in the case of dispute the law of Poland will be applicable to the whole present agreement (contract) as described in Article 3 of the law applicable to contractual obligations (Rome I). The parties agree to follow Article 4 (b) (Rome I) and confirm that all services to the service participant had been carried out in Poland by the organizer. If the participant does not participate in the debate he/she still agrees to cover the above amounts.

Any dispute arising out of or related to this contract signed by the parties shall be finally settled by the district court of Sad Arbitrżowy Konfederacji Lewiatan w Warszawie. See below for 'Legal issues between the Parties. Correspondance deliveries should be made to the postal address, or e-mail addresses and/or mobile phone numbers as given by each Contributor and VE in the related correspondence. The Contributor agrees to cover all related VE costs in the case of a dispute. The Contributor agrees and confirms that in the case of late/none payment the flat rate of three hundred eighty net for each VE notification letter and the flat rate of one thousand two hundred net for VE pre-litigation work to recuperate lecturer debt will be applied. The lecturer also confirms to cover costs of legal charges furnished to VE by legal proceedings/advice in the Contributor's home country.

We grant waivers under limited circumstances. Requests for waivers or discounts should be made during submission. Requests for waivers or ad hoc discounts made while an article is being peer-reviewed or after it has been accepted will be also occasionally granted. Each request is considered on a case-by-case basis.

All articles at www.LumiPedia.org are published by a Villa Europa Sp. z o. o. Correspondence address: Sienna 64, 00-825 Warszawa, Poland, EU.

Making this encyclopædia an open-access to everyone requires us to overcome a free-rider issue.
